About Me

I figured it was time to introduce myself.

My story? Okay. It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin’ on the porch with my family, singin’ and dancin’ down in Mississippi… Oh yea… that was Steve Martin in the movie “The Jerk”.

I am from Baltimore, Maryland and I’m an artist. I got in trouble with graffiti in school so instead of expelling me they gave me the option to go to art class.
Life has never been the same :)

I love painting, drawing, taking pictures and designing logo’s and websites. I have had the honor to paint murals, design promotional materials and even do graffiti for Calvin Klein’s Ck Shock : )

  1. Some sublime photos there mate. I have only just progressed from iphone/compact to a 4/3′s camera (DMC-G3) purely because it’s great for point and shoot and also allows some learning on my part. I have so much to learn though!
Love the fact you have your own business…my ambition

    • Thank you. I love taking pictures with my iPhone. So many awesome thing you can do. Like use colored plastic food wrap and put it over the camera lens and take pics. Or petroleum jelly around the edge of the lens to give a soft blur :) good luck on a business one day :)

  2. Cool trick with the iPhone. I’d kill my kid if I saw her applying petroleum jelly to her iPhone, but, as you probably paid for your iPhone and this is your profession, you go for it, Dude!

Seriously, though, I love your blog and your pictures.

    Thanks for following my blog!

  3. Wowsa! Reading your post “Good night little artist…sleep if you can” was a revelation. I never knew anybody thought the same way I did (or was more articulate in expressing it)

Thank you for stopping by my blog and now I have a place to go to find a kindred spirit

  4. I love your blog and I wanted to do something to really show my appreciation for all your beautiful posts so, I’m giving you this award … the Liebster Award. If you’d like to honor other bloggers with this award, you can see how to do that in the post at my blog. If you’d like to simply receive the award and enjoy the honor, that’s fine too. Just know that I think you’ve got a great blog and I thought all my followers should know it too. Have a great night! :D

  7. hello, thanks for stopping by my blog and following me – I am just starting out with this blogging malarky and it is nice to feel appreciated! I do love your blog, it’s really great, and it’s good to ‘meet’ you!

  8. A blog i can relate to! I just have to say, you had me at “I was born a poor black child.” One of my all time favorite movie quotes!!! So, i like you already. And that you are a happy family man who loves creativity? More Kudos! So, look forward to more of your posts!

  9. Thanks so much for finding my blog, which gave me a chance to find yours right back! I’m not much with photography but do enjoy the pictures of those who can do what I can’t. I often use photos my brother-in-law has taken on my blog. Your story about how your school handled your graffiti choice is beautiful. As a former school principal I’d have to say that’s my kind of discipline!

  10. thanks for liking and following my India Journal Blog and for bringing me here. Love the story of the graffiti and how it brought you to the joy you find in life. Smart school!! Look forward to exploring here and hope you find more pleasure in my continuing adventures in India. My current blog, where I write while not in India, might also interest you and you are invited to explore there as well. Lots of photos but also lots of “inspirational” posts-mostly stories from my own amazing life journey.

  11. Stopping by to see what you got going on. Thanks for reading and following my blog and I hope to hear from you. Keep on snapping and painting, that’s what makes color in our life. See you around.

  12. I’m always very impressed with folks like you who are talented in the visual arts, and I’m following to see what you will create next. I’m glad you liked my post “Once in a Blue Moon”. Thanks for following my blog, too!

  13. Hi! Thanks for visiting and following my blog! Looking forward to exploring your blog some more. And, yes!…you are a very lucky man. What a wonderful background story and a beautiful family!

  14. Hi! Thanks for following my blog. I will be following you as well. I should “hire” you to do pictures for my blog. I desperately want them, but it takes me at least an extra hour (or sometimes 2!) to add pics to my posts. I know people like them, but I just can’t right now. I have a horrible camera and that doesn’t help either. Anyway, thank you for finding me and I will be seeing you in my reader! :-)

  15. My husband, Pilot* is a teacher, and it’s really great to see such an inspired way to solve an issue! This is a great tip; I’ll have to pass it along! I was a goody-goody, so didn’t spend a lot of time in the Principal’s office. Just wanted to say, “Thanks!!!” for visiting my blog! Hopefully after enrolling in art, you had a great teacher. What was he/she like?

    • I have been fortunate to have a design teacher in the new place named George. He allowed me to grow as an artist while structuring much needed discipline. I still think of his lessons to this day.

  16. I’m relatively new to MD and had to smile to see you’re from Baltimore. :) Sounds like you had some fantastic support. Great to know you do what you love. Thanks for the follow! :)

  17. Hi there! Thanks so much for the follow .. your photography is beautiful! And, I enjoyed reading your “ABOUT ME” section, very entertaining .. made me think I should redo my “ABOUT” section, as it might be a little too serious, and I would love to try and add some humor :) Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of your posts in my inbox! Thanks Again! -Heather Decker

  18. Hi, Thanks for following Soosie Wales! I’ve been taking a look at some of your posts. Although I’ve not got a DSLR (i use panasonic TZ8) I found your Macro hints post really interesting. :-)

  19. Thanks for introducing yourself and following my blog. Your work is exceptional. I have some MD connections. Our daughters wedding was in Baltimore just last year. I have a passion for photography – I am no pro – great to share though. :)

  20. Hello! All the best to your creative endeavours in 2012 and beyond!

I read your introductory story with great interest and wonder why you claim to be “born a poor black child” when you look to be a Caucasian to me. Did I miss something?

Is your creative services company elev8webdesign.com? It looks very professional. It must be very satisfying and reassuring to have left the corporate world and to become your own boss doing what you like most, creatively and unencumbered by bureaucracy.

Have a great weekend and happy autumn!

  21. thank you for following my blog… I love macro photography as well. Also I’m a fresh mother and love taking pictures of my child. Yet I have decided not to upload every picture I take of my daughter as a way to avoid being a sentimental mother who can only talk about their kid ;)

  22. Welcome! Thank you for subscribing to follow my blog. I hope you are encouraged, inspired and enjoy the photos I take of life events as seen through the lens of my camera.
    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
